One day I will figure out how to load my pictures in order.
For now, it is in backwards order.
Thanks for going with the flow!
On Friday, we filled up our Put Up Jar.
We get to add poof balls to our jar when we are caught helping others,
showing kindness, and working together.
Each time we fill up our Put Up Jar, we get to color in a letter in our word "Kindness."
Mrs. Fornek came in for a lesson to help us gain a better understanding of others that may learn differently, speak differently, or have other needs.
We were given a sticker and had to figure out our groups... without talking!
We did a fantastic job working together and helping one another.
We realized that we can still communicate/help one another even if we are different and can't communicate in the same language.
In writing, we worked on bringing drama to our characters.
The class focused on adding more details to their characters to make them complicated.
We added our details on post its so we can included what we would like for our final draft.
Earlier in the week, we worked on writing a personal narrative story where the trouble starts, trouble gets worse, and the trouble gets better. We talked about thinking/talking through our plan across pages, adding pictures for each section, and then writing.
We enjoy heading to the LMC to read and explore new books with classmates.
In math, we are working on adding and subtracting multi-digit numbers.
We worked through some different activities to help us become more secure with the skill.
We met our first grade buddy classroom... Mrs. Johnson's class!
On Wednesday, we played a game where we had to find a new 1st grader when the music stopped, introduce ourselves, and answer the question so we can learn more about our 1st grade buddy classmates.
Next week we will meet our actual 1st grade buddy!
In reading, we went through our books and jotted about our main character.
We are aiming to find more than one character trait and examples from the text to support
why the character has that trait.
We did incredible on this challenge!
Our leader of the week shared his poster with some classmates.
We began writing our narrative story (after planning across pages and drawing a picture for each section).
We are becoming better at stopping when we read to make jots to
help with our understanding of the text.
We worked with classmates to read from our science book about tsunamis
and report out three facts we learned.
Ms. Schippers created a resource for our class to use as we research facts about Illinois.
We will be using our facts to report out to the different states that signed up for our Postcard Exchange.
We have been busy sharing our work with classmates and providing feedback.
We made some pretty interesting origami bookmarks!
Have a great weekend!
